Vinted Shoppers Express Frustration Regarding Sizing Updates

Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.

This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change.

Social Media Response

Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.

The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms.

It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.

Sizing System Modifications

Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Shopper Experiences

A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.

Necessary Adjustments

A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she said.

Marketplace Information

The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
